Colours, aroma and flavour

The colour of wine

Every wine has its own color.
White wines can be paper white, pale yellow, light green, amber yellow, golden or light red.
They can contain hints of pale red brick or hues of cloudy bronze.
Red wines can be ruby red, garnet, crimson, purple, mauve, scarlet, vermilion, blood red, carmine, maroon, damask, magenta…..
There is no doubt, however that the color of a wine depends on the light under which it is examined and as an infinity of light and shade exists, it is impossible too give wine an exact color. So the color of a wine will always be different, sometimes more so, sometimes less so.

The aroma of wine

The aroma of wine can be strong, heady, resinous, delicate, constant, frail, aromatic or spicy and it can smell of violets, roses, raspberries or almonds. Taste, like color, is heavily influenced by surroundings. It depends on how one feels, on the atmosphere and on the memories its aroma brings back.

The flavour of wine

The flavor of wine can be dry, round, full, soft, inspired, mellow, sweet, medium-sweet, heavily sweet, sour, sapid, earthy, fresh, airy, pungent, velveteen, neutral, spirited, austere, tannic, sharp, cloying, piquant, brusque, elusive, fruity, light, frail, full-bodied, generous, harmonious, clear, balanced, sincere, hard, with an aftertaste …… Even the flavor of wine can change. It depends on the food that has been eaten or on hunger; it can be influenced by the air, the breeze, by the season, by other flavors or even by the other times that the wine was tasted. It also depends on one's state of mind.
If you are in love and your loved one is at your side, even a simple wine may seem divine.
Perhaps the only real way to distinguish the flavor of wine is to cancel every past experience, but that of course is not possible.
